Happy Mother's Day from Wanda of Blue Linden Weddings and Events

Whether you are the mother of the bride or the mother of the groom helping to prepare for a wedding is full of emotions! As a mom myself, I truly understand. As a wedding professional, I appreciate all of the support and love you provide during the event planning process!

Mother of the Bride

Traditionally, the bride to be and her mom are the ones creating all aspects of a wedding. Modern brides and their modern moms however are reaching out to wedding planners for help on the planning details so they can enjoy the emotions and memories of the planning process. Wedding preparation and planning these days are also a more collaborative process that could encompass the groom as well as other family and friends. However, there is still a focus on the Mother of the Bride. It is a special bond and forever memory to share the process of planning and the joy of this special day between a bride and her mom (or mother, or mum).

Don’t get me started on the emotional roller coaster that comes with this planning process and of seeing your daughter in these beautiful wedding gowns! It is a big jumbled bowl of pride, anxiety, excitement, sadness, relief, joy, love … and so many more emotions too.

Mother of the Groom

From a traditional aspect, the mother of the groom (MOG) has no defined responsibilities in the wedding planning process. Often times we see the involvement of the MOG based on the relationship she has to the couple as well as special skills. The great aspect of wedding planning in 2020 is that you can make your own rules that work for you and your family — and your “to be” family.

Regardless of role, this is as emotional of a time for the MOG as it is for the MOB. Both are preparing their ‘babies’ to begin their own families. Whether their child lives at home or has been living out of the house for a while, a wedding in the official transition into adulthood!
