Interesting Add-ons for your Destination Wedding & Reception

Destination weddings are a unique event in the wedding world. Typically, destination weddings are smaller, more casual events, as travel is required for every guest. Since many destination weddings are smaller than state-side weddings, destination wedding packages may not have the robust inclusion that’s seen with local wedding planner packages.

Although destination weddings are a little different than a traditional wedding back home, there are always add-ons to wedding planner packages, even when far from home. Here are a few ideas that may be must-haves for your celebration or maybe fun add-ons that will enhance your tropical celebration of love.

Destination Wedding Videography

Video may be a mainstay service offering her in the states, but a destination wedding often doesn’t include videography in the wedding package. At smaller weddings or destination weddings couples might determine a video of their wedding or reception is not necessary.  Capturing video on a beach, for example, is very difficult because of the natural sound and additional audio options needed. As you can imagine this also increases the price.

If video is a must-have for you but you don’t see it included in the destination wedding packages you’re considering, ask! Many times the venue or your wedding planner knows a videographer (or 5) to connect with. And working with a local videographer means they have experience capturing all the little moments of your big day without interference from the elements.

Bridal Party Flowers

Since many destination weddings tend to have smaller wedding parties, packages often do not provide flowers for bridal parties. No matter the size of your wedding party, if flowers for bridesmaids and groomsmen will add to your celebration they can be easily added to your wedding package. Local florists in your destination will easily be able to expand a flower order and can work with you and your wedding planner to ensure that your flower selections are perfectly cohesive, from your bouquet to your groomsmen’s boutonnieres. Consider local, tropical flowers and arrangements that you and your bridal party can hold onto as keepsakes.

Fire Dancing!

Fire dancers are not typically seen in traditional local weddings, which makes them a unique and fun add-on for your tropical destination wedding. If you’re planning a reception or cocktail hour on the beach, fire dancers are an interesting and entertaining addition to your party! Consider the time of day you’d like fire dancers to perform. A daylight performance allows you to see all the dramatic and masterful moves in a fire dancer’s performance, but a night-time showing makes the fire even more impactful. Whatever time of day you’d like fire dancers to perform, it will likely be a performance you’ll never forget and an addition to your wedding that it would be hard to find at home.

Your destination wedding can be the celebration of your dreams, even far from home, with add-ons to complement and enhance your destination wedding package. If you’re looking for a wedding planner to help bring your destination wedding in Mexico to life, let’s set up a call.
