Destination Wedding Inspiration: From the Mountains to the Sea

There are two main decisions you have to make when thinking about a destination wedding: if you want to plan a destination wedding in the first place and where you want to have your celebration. While the choice to have a destination wedding is sometimes an easy one (who doesn’t love a mini-vacation with close friends and family in a beautiful location), the difficult decision is where to go for your big day. We’ve gathered a few of our favorite locations to help you narrow down your search with a little inspiration.

Beach Wedding

Often when people think of destination weddings they think of a beach celebration in a tropical location. Beach weddings are popular for the beautiful weather and relatively easy access for travel and planning. If you’re located in the United States, there are beach options within the country or a short flight away in Mexico, Costa Rica, and other tropical island locations south of the US. With a beach wedding, you can say your ‘I do’s’ with your toes in the sand while watching the sunset over the ocean. Sounds like a dream to us.

Mountain Wedding

Do you love the cool mountain air and fresh smell of nature? Want to say your vows while looking out over deep valleys and peaks? A mountain wedding might be for you. Having your ceremony or reception up in the mountains brings a serenity and privacy to your celebration that can be hard to find in the city. And a mountain wedding doesn’t have to leave out those family members who can’t hike up to a mountain peak. There are many options in and around the mountains that are easily accessible by car and still offer stunning views.

Ranch Wedding

Ranch weddings have become more popular in the past ten years for their rustic charm and inclusive options. Many ranch wedding venues have spaces that can suit your ceremony and reception on-site. A ranch or farm wedding is perfect for couples who crave the escape to a simple time or the whimsical feeling of string lights hung across the beams of an old barn. Just being away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life makes a ranch wedding feel a little different.

City Wedding

Do you have a favorite city, where every time you visit you feel like at home and want to come back for more? If the mood of the city suits your big day, you can have your wedding celebration in your dream location. A destination wedding doesn’t have to take you out of the country, and a city wedding can provide easy access to travel and lodging options for you and your guests. You can have sparkling city lights behind your rooftop ceremony or your favorite landmark as a backdrop in all your wedding photos. City weddings can be more of a destination than you would think and can be the perfect getaway without being too remote!

A Tropical Wedding in Costa Rica

For couples looking for a destination beach wedding, one of our favorite beach options is the sandy shores of Costa Rica. Imagine a waterfall behind you while tropical flowers bloom beside your gathered wedding party while you share your love for your partner with family and friends. Once your wedding day is complete, stick around for scuba diving or a hike through the rainforest.
